Golden Girl

Bella Mastrobuono '24

Bright was per personality,

But in came the darkness.

It surrounded her from all sides.

Captured

Stuck

Lost

But she can't possibly feel that way.

She's supposed to be your little golden girl.

Isn't she?

As the darkness engulfs her,

she can't get out.

And yet you leave her to battle the darkness

on her own.

No wonder the darkness is spreading.

Everyone can act, so maybe in your eyes, she still is your golden girl.

But don't you know your own daughter?

Can't you tell she is struggling?

Don't let the darkness control you, let some light and happiness in.

It doesn't always have to be gray.

My dear, you deserve so much better than what they can offer you.

And there is never the need to be "the golden girl"
