Luscious Lemons

Over the months we grow

Terrifically tall above the ground

We transform into blobs that look like the color of glistening gold

That feel like the sun’s smile on a summer day

Supported by the stable branches we eventually snap!

Our base is strong and stable due our surroundings

But it is time to grow beyond our roots and gain independence

We can uniquely cut and slice ourselves

Into the many juicy layers that lie beneath our protection

When paired with sugar,

We are the rush that floods the streets when kids hear the icecream truck

When eaten alone,

We are the stinging of a cut and the nightmare that echos in your head

Used many different ways

We adapt and are ready

To be something new
