In this episode, 21Mil&Rising and #BLKGRLMAGIC team up for the first time to discuss the global impact of colorism, defined as “prejudice or discrimination against individuals with a dark skin tone, typically among people of the same ethnic or racial group.” We discuss our experiences with color prejudice, pressures to avoid the sun and “not get dark”, representation of light and dark skin in the media, and finally, how to love the skin you’re in and how the internet can also be a source of positivity and affirmation.
